Roundcube rocks the snoopy socks off Gmail

OK, this is really just me wanting to post something nerdy and anti-surveillance society.

Everyone should know that Gmail sucks up mad personal information and aggregates it into a profile they use for advertising, a profile that includes every e-mail you ever sent or received if you are using Gmail. I don't know the specifics of this, nor do I think Google discloses these details, but years ago when a friend of mine was checking his e-mail and I saw an ad for books by Bakunin I said, dude look, Gmail knows you are an anarchist and are trying to market stuff to you, this is kind of fucked.

Anyways, everybody is way to familiar with Squirrelmail by now, the ancient but useful PHP client for IMAP access, anyone who runs their own server or uses dreamhost or riseup.net or any of the other e-mail providers that aren't big and corporate has probably used it. Problem is Squirrelmail hasn't improved it's UI much for a while, whereas people using Gmail are used to a sleek and sexy AJAX style web interface that many prefer to even clients like Thunderbird or Outlook.

Well Roundcube is pretty damn sexy these days, and it's open-source, and brimming to the rim with AJAX, even if it is alpha it runs fine for me without any problems and I must admit I'm starting to find it easier to use than even Thunderbird...so get off of Gmail and get an arawakcity.org account and use http://roundcube.net/
